We have a sweet little niece named Dixie-Anne. We don’t get to see her nearly enough, but whenever we do it’s such a delight to see those chunky little cheeks and grins. She’s a sweet little chunk for sure! This summer my sister-in-law, Annie, asked if I would take Dixie-Anne’s 9 month photos.
We were at my in-laws for the shoot and Annie really wanted some classic portraits capturing the rolls on Dixie-Anne. At 9 months she had started to become a lot more mobile and was quickly losing the sweet rolls!
Whenever I’m doing a shoot indoors I always make sure to search for the best natural light and it was a little more challenging at my in-laws house. We finally decided on a bedroom where there was a little recessed area with a window in it. Annie and I hauled out any furniture that was in it and put Dixie-Anne’s things down (as well as herself!). The things you do to set up for a shoot are actually pretty humorous, because it’s never shown in the photos.
Dixie-Anne did so fantastic, and even let me take some outdoor shots of her with her mama before she made it known that she was tired and done.
I’m thankful for the chance to capture these, because I know how quickly the baby rolls slim down, and the baby days turn into toddler ones. It’s so special to have photos to remember the moments that pass too quickly.
